{Friday Night Leftovers}

  • It's that time again - friday! I swear to god it sneaks up on me every week. Friday is my favorite day because it's C's first day off. I love our days together as a family all.day.long.
  • I'm not going to say much but naps may, or may not be, getting better...
  • There is only 26 more days until we go to my moms!!! I am so friggin' excited. I can't wait to get up to the Okanagan and enjoy the beautiful weather (I hope!), my mom's cooking and visits with the fam. We will be there for H's 6 month birthday which basically means it's been (other than Skype) 6 months since my mom has seen her and my step-dad has yet to meet her at all!
  • We just set up a jolly jumper and H has never been in one - I can't wait until she wakes from her nap so that we can try it out. A friend lent it to us to see if she likes it, and if she does I will totally be getting one of our own.
  • C has gone 5 days with out a smoke - I'm so proud of him.
  • Today was the day of "The Royal Wedding"... I know it's exciting and special and all that but I am honestly just excited that it's over and we don't have to hear about it anymore. It was a little bit overkill, in my opinion. Also, I did not stay up to the wee hours of the morning to watch it. I have a baby who had me up every hour, but sleep is sacred and it will be replayed for years to come - I'm sure.
  • That's it for this week! Stop by here and check out what other leftovers are kickin' around.

{Blog Award}

I received this virtual blog award from Tasha. I basically only blog about H and our family (and sometimes I suck at blogging, period), and to some people that may be boring so it's kind of nice to know that someone likes to read about us! The recipient of the award has to share 7 details with her readers. So, here we go:
  1. I have no tattoos - but I want one. Down my left side... I can't decide if I want to wait until we have our next baby (which won't be soon, so don't ask) or to just do it and hope for the best when I do end up pregnant again.
  2. I have 2 brothers, and 2 sisters. The closest one in age to me is B and she is 7 years younger, M is 8 years younger and R and M are both 10 years younger. I love being the oldest. It makes me happy that even though there is an age gap between us, we are all very close.
  3. Tasha did a typing test that showed she typed 85 wpm. She added the link and suggested we try ours too, I got 82 wpm - which is pretty damn good!
  4. Summer is my absolute favourite season, hands down. I can't get enough of the warmth and sunshine (but not without sunscreen!) and it makes me an all around happier person.
  5. I hate getting my hair cut. Hate. It.
  6. I am addicted to cookies.
  7. I wish it were possible to live in the same city as ALL my besties. I miss them, but we've all be through a lot together and I know that distance will not tear us apart.
Now I get to give this award to 7 other bloggers.
  1.  The Tompkins Family  - I don't know if it's in the rules to give it back to the person who gave it to you, but I am.. because I love her blog!
  2.  Family Feedbag
  3.  Adventures Of The Sunshine Brigade
  4.  Princess & The Pea
  5.  Here We Go Again
  6.  The Life of a Laid-Back Mama
  7.  Everyday Chaos

{5 Months Old}

Likes:
*Baths - she still loves them. I'm so excited to get her in the lake this summer, I hope she loves it just as much!
*"Flying" - this is more like a love than a like. She gets the biggest smile and giggles so loud when you throw her in the air, fly her around like an airplane, toss her down on the bed (gently, of course!). It's pretty cute to see, and pretty fun to do!
*Rocking - she still adores her rocking chair and snuggles with Momma.
*Kisses & Raspberries - on her neck, cheeks and tummy!
*Bouncing - on your foot, or your knee. The higher the better,
*FOOD! - Sweet potatoes, squash rice cereal and apples so far.
*Being Nakid - this one scares dad!
*Chewing on her hands and fingers - and blankets, and toys.. and her clothes.. basically anything she can get in her mouth!
*Being outside - the weather is starting to get really nice so we will finally be able to get outside more and more, thank god.

Dislikes:
*Naps - still. I swear she takes the biggest power naps ever. They don't even remember the last time she made it to 45minutes, they keep getting shorter and shorter!
*Sleeping at night - She used to sleep through, and now she doesn't.. it's as simple as that. Sigh.
*The car - I used to think it was perhaps her carseat she hated but the more time that goes on, I'm pretty sure it's just the car. She screams from the moment the car starts driving to the moment it stops... and not just screaming, gagging, choking, the whole works. It's super unpleasant. I can't figure out why.. we've tried everything. I bought a new carseat that was bigger - no luck. Personally, I think it's because nobody is paying attention to her in there and she's probably the biggest attention whore I know.
*Tummy Time - we were tolerating this for awhile, but we're back to hating it now.
*The Swing - big dislike, here.
*Peaches - They're my favourite and I'm a little sad about this one - though I did taste them and they were a bit sour so perhaps when I make my own she'll like them better (and if not, I'll eat them!).
*When mom or dad holds another baby - she has no lost her shit on two different occasions after seeing C or I hold another baby. Jealous Monkey we have.

Could Take it or Leave it:
*The Jumperoo - She LOVED it last month, this month.. it's hit or miss. Mostly a miss, though.
*The Bumbo - unless she's eating in it, she doesn't much like it.
*Other people - she hasn't been screaming so much lately but she really doesn't like others for long periods of time. A quick snuggle and that's about it.

What Happened This Month?
*We went on a trip to Victoria without C to visit the Auntee's and some of my old friends. We were gone from April 15th-17th and then spent the 18th in Courtenay with Cousin M. She was great for the drives but a bit fussy for the rest of the trip. The routine went out the window and she didn't much like that.

*March 29th were here 4 months shots. She screamed far worse and for far longer than her 2 months shots. She developed a fever, as she did with the 2 month shots, and was sleepy and fussy for the rest of the day and night.

*She had her first trip to the beach/park on April 2nd and got to go on the swings for the first time while we were there. She didn't really know what to think about swinging but there were no tears so she didn't hate it!

*April 9th we met baby M for the first time. He's so precious and I am so excited for him and H to grow up together.

*We started solids!! April 10th was her first day of rice cereal and she didn't really like it much. She opened wide and swallowed well but her face showed her disapproval. We tried sweet potatoes next and those were a hit, as well as squash and apples. She does not like peaches. Right now she has two meals a day, breakfast and dinner.

*April 11th was the 1 Year Anniversary of C and I finding out we were pregnant!

*On April 13th we had our first Baby Dance Class! It's more cardio for me, but she enjoys it.

*She laughs and smiles so much. She doesn't talk as much as she used to because her hands are always in her mouth or there is a smile on her face.

*She's becoming more and more squirmy. She's always moving and just wants to go go go! I have a strong feeling she'll be walking early. If she's standing, she's happy!

*She can sit on her own! She sits slightly like a gorilla.. leaned forward with her hands on the ground but she can stay like that for minutes on end and even play with her toys without falling over.

*She still rolls front to back, but so far not back to front - she tries but gets stuck on her arm and can't quite make it over.

*She celebrated her first Easter on April 24th and of course got spoiled.

*She is currently 15lbs 12oz, and 25" long. That's 50th percentile for both weight and height.

5 Months Old.. wow. She has changed so much in the past 5 months and each month gets funner and funner (is funner a word? ha.)

Happy 5 Months, H. Your Mumma Loves You xo

{Friday Night Leftovers}

  • I'm seriously slacking in the blog department as of lately. I know I've said it a thousand times but I will really try to be better. I just find that there isn't enough time in the day these days. The weather is getting nicer, the days are getting longer.. just no time!
  • I've been busy. I spent last weekend in Victoria and then Courtenay with friends, this week I caught up on laundry and some spring cleaning (I can call it that now because the weather is finally acting Spring'ish), and now we're housesitting at my in laws while they're away.
  • H had an amazing day yesterdady. She was the happiest I've ever seen her. We had very little crying, no screaming, tonnes of smiles and lots of giggles. Still no naps, but an okay night...  I'm one happy mama today!
  • Speaking of today, so far she's happy again!
  • Also, friends are coming into town today for Easter. I'm excited as I haven't seen them since I went to visit their new baby M back at the beginning of Feb. It'll be nice to get some pictures of M and H together now that they're a bit older, they sure are the cutest little girls ever!
  • While I'm talking about those friends... this is baby M doing the cutest thing ever... I couldn't stop laughing so check it out!!!
  • We've started food. Well, we started last Monday (the 11th) with rice cereal which was a hit. We introduced Sweet Potatoes, Squash and Bananas and those were a huge success but last night I tried to feed her peaches and she hates them. Peaches are my FAVORITE. In her defense - I tried them and they are a bit sour. Maybe when I make my own she won't dislike them so much (and if she does, then I'll just have to eat them myself, shucks)
  • I still have little to no success in the nap department and I reeeally wish I could get at least a 2 hour nap once a day so I can get some things done!
  • Happy Easter Weekend, now hop on over to here to get some more leftovers.

{Fill Me In!}

I missed FNL's and had a busy weekend away with Miss H so here's a quick recap, bullet style.

  • Friday afternoon we went to Victoria for a Bestie Weekend. We all met up there and had a nice dinner at The Med Grill (AMAZING), went shopping, and had some girl time.
  • H and I also visited with some friends I haven't seen in a long time and got some pictures taken (checkout http://itsphotography.net)... all that's missing is that dad guy!

  • I went to Carter's and bought H some new summer clothes - Love that store... I pretty much could have spent hundreds but instead I got 7 items for under $30!
  • On the drive back up Island we got stuck on the Malahat. Some oil tanker had crashed and it was all shut down. Traffic was a bitch but finally we made it through and we did it with a sleeping baby!
  • H doesn't much like car rides but we lucked out on the way down and she slept the entire way, the way back she slept most of the way (but due to being stuck in traffic woke before we were back in Courtenay) and then fussed the rest. All in all, I think we lucked out with minimal screaming.
  • Any schedule we had is now gone to shit. 3 nights of sleeping in bed with mom meant last night she was NOT about to sleep in her crib. She had very few naps, and no early bedtimes.
  • Once we got back to Courtenay we stayed a night with cousins and their new baby M. It was nice to visit and have a brand new baby snuggle.
  • The weather has been FABULOUS and the forecast says the next week is supposed to follow suit. H had her first nap out on the porch today! It's about time the cold f'd off!!
  • We're home now, as of last night, and it's great to be in our own bed and see C! I like going away but coming home is always nice.
There you have it, a quick overview of the past few days! Now wish us luck on getting back into a routine until the next time we go away!

{D.elle Design}

I started a business... or, I'm attempting anyways.

Remember that mobile I posted a few days ago??
Check THIS out.. and 'like' me.. and order a mobile.. and tell your friends!

{I Want}

T did an "I Want" post today, so I figured I would follow suit. Her's was just 1 "I want" but I'm a little more greedy.

I Want:

  • H to remember how to sleep through the night... and while she's at it, a nap longer than 20 minutes would be FANTASTIC.
  • A date night with my husby - yes, I know there are a hundred of you that would babysit so I will rephrase that - A date night with my husby where I WON'T be constantly thinking/texting/worrying/wondering about H. I give it a year.
  • My sheets to remain puke free for 1 entire day. Also, it would be nice if the child who pukes on them would just stop puking.
  • It to be warm out - I cannot say this enough - I AM DONE WITH WINTER.
  • A new wardrobe.
  • I want this to make H's baby food. I know a pot and a blender can do the same thing but this is just too easy!
  • I want it to be the end of May so we can go to Peachland for my little sisters Graduation (omg!).
  • I want a maid, and a cook, and a live in massage therapist.
  • As the list goes on my wants are getting a bit ridiculous so I will end it with, I want to win the lottery.
Is this too much to ask? What do YOU want?

{1 Year Ago}

April 11th, 2010 was the day I pee'd on "The Stick".

1 year ago, today, our lives changed forever... and I wouldn't change it for the World.

{MmmMmm Good... or is it?}

This is what we did today:

I know, I know... They say to wait until 6 months before introducing solids... clearly They (whoever they are) have never seen my child eat!

H has become consistently hungrier over the past couple weeks and the doctor recommended to try her on solids. She watches us with intense interest while we eat, so we figured we could give it a try. She doesn't really know what to think about it but opens wide and doesn't spit much out so she's on the right track!

I can't believe how big she is getting.

{Meeting Baby Mac}

Yesterday we got to meet Baby Mac. I didn't think we would be able to until next weekend when H and I go over the The Island to visit with them but they made a trip over to PR yesterday and I just couldn't stay away. At 9'ish pounds, now, he is still so itty bitty in comparison to my little monkey. So itty bitty, and perfect! We just had a short visit with him and his mommy before we had to go, but it was nice to meet him, and see J (she looks fabulous, btw). Here's a few pictures of H's new baby cousin, and some of H too, because she's just too cute to not include!!

H meets Mac
she's not too sure what to think..

C has a turn! (he NEVER held babies before H came along.. he says "it's different now."
[No complaining here, boys & babies never get old.. so cute!]

Auntie Jill & H... I'm sure all she can think about is how BIG H is!

BB Mac!

Ok, ok!! I won't take any more pictures of you, geeeze!

Congrats, again, to my cousin Ryan and his wife Jill.
Damn, our family makes awesome babies!

{Crafty Ma'ma!}

About a year ago a friend of mine posted a picture on facebook of the nursery she was preparing for her twin boys. Hanging above their beds were these and I fell in love. I demanded to know where she'd bought them and was devastated when she explained that they were from Pottery Barn Kids but were discontinued.

When H was about 2 months old I decided I wanted to make my own. I started it and then the procrastinator in me came out. It sat, unfinished, in the corner of our room for almost 2 months and then tonight I decided to finish it...

So, after 2 months of procrastination, it's finally done! It's definitely different from the original one that sparked my interest but I'm so happy with it and I can't wait to hang it above H's crib and see how she likes it. If she doesn't like it, she better pretend she does!

Also, I'm thinking of making more and selling them. I cut out the butterflies on a Cricut machine so basically I could make the mobiles out of anything -- bugs, horses, trucks, birds, random shapes. I could also do any colour combination you needed. What do you think? Would you buy one of these, and if so, how much would you pay?

{Friday Night Leftovers}

  • Okay so a while ago we were in Walmart and toothpaste was on sale... It was buy one get one free,  so logically we got 2 tubes. It's the most disgusting Crest toothpaste I've ever tasted. It's like sensitive whitening or something? Anyways, it's gross, and it leaves a gross taste in your mouth after you're done brushing. Odd thing is, everyone seems to like it except me. Two weeks ago I bought new toothpaste - for myself - and it was delicious. Yes, I said was. It's friggin' MISSING!!! Seriously, I used it for like 3 days and it disappeared. NObody knows where it went. It's the case of the missing toothpaste... and I'm back to brushing my teeth with the gross kind. Sigh.
  • My fingernails are out of control! I'm a nail bitter, I have been for years, but right now they are so long and awesome. The nail on the finger that got caught in the blender doesn't grow very well so it's super short while the rest are long, which sucks, but otherwise they're beautiful. I don't know if I kicked the habit after 23 years, or if I just no longer have time to bite!
  • While my nails have been great, my skin is not. The first 18 weeks of my pregnancy were TERRIBLE to my face. I have always had issues but my skin had been pretty good for quite some time and then when I got pregnant it went downhill quickly. It cleared up for the middle/end of my pregnancy and then when H was born it was BEAUTIFUL for about 3 weeks. Since then, it's gone downhill again. I feel like I've tried everything and it's still a disaster - so dry and broken out. Suuuuper annoying.
  • Also, there is more hair in my bed, on my floor, stuck in my clothes, and wrapped around H's toes than I have on my head. I am almost scared that soon I will be bald. Hooray for postpartum hair loss! Not.
  • H had her first trip to the beach/park earlier this week. The weather has been fairly decent and it better not be teasing me because I am well over winter.
  • I brought H to the doc on Wednesday. She has reflux - apparently - so we got a prescription for Zantac and were on our way... but not before we got her weighed.. 14lbs 10oz. She's consistently been 50th percentile since 2 months old and remains to be in the 50th percentile now. If one more person tells me how fat she is, they're going to wish they didn't.
  • I'm sucking at blogging. This week has been rough and I have had no desire to write about it. Check out some more leftovers here

{Swinging}

Yesterday was H's first trip to the beach/park. It was short lived though, because even though it was a beautiful sunny day, the wind was blowing so hard down by the ocean.

Not too sure how she feels about swinging
I can't wait for "underducks"

Being adorable - like it takes any effort.
Swingtime with Ma'ma

Scaring the crap out of Dad

Looking 100lbs in her snowsuit

Time to go home...
What a lovely family day we had. H and I both love it when daddy has the day off! Bring on Summer...

{Friday Night Leftovers}

  • Once again, Friday snuck up on me. This week I don't even have a list of things to look at for my FNL post. I usually write things down as I think of them throughout the week!
  • I've been a cleaning machine, today. I'm waiting for H to go to bed and then the rest of the house will get done - hopefully, unless I lose all motivation by then.
  • I made fish tacos last night. They were SO AMAZING. I can't wait to make them again.
  • My iPhone FINALLY came in!!!! I'm addicted... and so is C. I can't believe I've been missing out for all this time.
  • H still doesn't know how to nap. It makes for a grumpy baby - Do you have any tips?
  • We had 4month shots on Tuesday, it was terrible. They were accompanied by tonnes of screaming for the remainder of the day, as well as a fever... the Tylenol did make for a good sleep, though. Poor bebe.
  • I LOVE chocolate macaroons.. so good.
  • I'm boring this Friday. Check out some more exciting Leftovers, here!
