{4 Months Old}
Likes:
*Baths - though she doesn't swim like she used to, she just kind of lounges and relaxes, smiling away.
*Fresh Air - even in the rain and wind, the kid loves to be outside.
*Getting her diaper change - she has taken to kicking off with her feet and scooting her way up towards the top of the pad. This makes it difficult to keep the diaper underneath her and you have to almost pin her down to get it done up. She thinks this is hilarious.
*Rocks in her glider - this month she has taken to the glider more than ever. It's part of our nighttime routine and I look forward to her sleepy cuddles before I lay her down for the night. Sometimes if she's inconsolable I rock and then she settles almost immediately.
*Gripe Water - she sucks it back AND it helps her tummy feel better, win/win for both of us, really!
*Being Nakid - but then again, who doesn't love to be nakid?!
*Funny faces and voices - she's quite a ham and she loves all your attention to be on her. If you're making faces and talking to her in funny voices she is one happy girl.
*Being in Public - she's the happiest baby ever. She's nosey as hell so when we're out and about she just sits back and takes it all in, talking, giggling, smiling at strangers. She's really too cute.
*The Playmat - she lays and talks to her kitty and toucan. She bats at the butterflies and smiles away - until she's done and then she's mad.
Dislikes:
*Naps - 45 minutes, 45 minutes, 45 minutes. She 45 minutes me to DEATH!!!
*Her car seat - still. I ordered a stationary 3 in 1 on Tuesday so hopefully this will solve our screaming car rides. I hope because it's bigger she'll be more comfortable.
*When mom leaves her at home and goes out without her - she likes me. A lot.
Could Take it or Leave it:
*The Jumperoo - she likes it for the first 5 minutes, tolerates it for the second 5 minutes, and then hates it.
*Tummy Time - it's really hit or miss. Sometimes she'll lay with her head held high for up to 15minutes, some days before I even have her down she's screaming.
*The bumbo - she never looks comfortable and never lasts long before she starts fussing.
*The Swing - we got a new one and she definitely likes this one more than the last but it's still not her favourite thing (of course it's not, because it's not my arms!). She hangs out in it, and occasionally naps, but never for long periods of time. Basically, it allows me to pee in peace, or make lunch with two hands!
What Happened This Month?:
*She is a talking machine! She has so much to say and has the cutest little "voice". I love waking up to her chatting away in her crib instead of crying (most of the time).
*March 3rd, 2011 we went swimming for the first time! She wasn't too sure about it. She never cried, but she just laid very still in the water taking in the sights. I got smiles though, so she didn't hate it!
*March 8th, 2010 she got her ears pierced. They are BEYOND adorable. She didn't enjoy it whatsoever, and I shed a tear as well but it was well worth it in the end.
*She's giggling quite a bit now but I'm still waiting for the time when belly laughs become regular.
*I THIIIINK I felt a tooth today. Bottom left side of her mouth. I think I can see a little something white but I can't be sure because it's near impossible to get her to keep her tongue back and open her mouth - she's always licking at me!!
*Her hands are NEVER out of her mouth. She chews on them pretty much all day and drools like a monster.
* She grabs at toys.. and then puts them in her mouth (as well as everything else she can get her hands on)
*She now weighs 14lbs 0oz (as of March 24th) and is 24" long. She's my short little porkchop! I love every roll and dimple she's got!
*She is still doing great in her crib. Bedtime is between 7 and 8 and the routine is a must. We've skipped bits here and there and have just ended up "re-doing" bedtime (which makes her go to sleep right away!!). She had a couple weeks where she was waking quite a bit and exhaustion took over so she was in our bed a few mornings but otherwise we're sticking to it and it's kicking ass. I love having my bed, and my husband cuddles, back!
*She's getting super strong and loves to be "standing up" all the time. My arms sure get a work out bouncing her around. It's cute when her legs get tired though because she just stops standing and sits right down.
*She smiles when you go get her from her crib in the morning. I can't wait for the day that she puts her arms up for me to take her out but in the meantime the huge morning smiles will do! It's totally adorable and brightens up my day, even if it is at 6am somedays.
*On March 25th, 2010, she found her toes! I knew it was coming because she's been holding her legs up in the air for some time. Today while on her change table she grabbed them! And then once I got her dressed again she was reaching and reaching for them and wouldn't let go once she got them. So cute. So far she's only done it that one time but I'm sure it won't take long before we're wiping drool off her feet!
As I've said every week, and will continue to say, WHERE HAS THE TIME GONE?! The last 4 months of my pregnancy took like 15 years to go by, why is my baby growing so fast?!

{Friday Night Leftovers}
- H is 16 weeks, today. Tomorrow she will officially be 4 months old. She's practically graduated!!
- Speaking of which... 1 year ago, March 22nd, a baby was made. Her name is H!
- It's one of my besties' 24th Birthday today. Happy Birthday, Robbi!!!! Hope you have a fabulous day and the best year yet!
- I mentioned last week that I needed to vacuum my car because it looked like I lived in it.. well, I did it! It's nice and clean, for now. It never lasts long.. I don't understand how so much dirt can be on shoes!!
- I took H to Healthy Babies yesterday and got her weighed. As I said it's her 4 month birthday tomorrow though, so I'm going to make you wait to hear how much she is!!
- Spring has arrived and along with that comes Spring Cleaning.. I'm dreading it but soon my house will be sparkling and I will have significantly less Facebook friends. Lately I've been thinking that there are far too many people on my Facebook that I don't talk to, why are they there?
- Gripe Water is my best friend. Seriously. H has been soooooo gassy and fussy lately I would die without it.
- Why do they make baby shoes? I swear to god, I have a billion pairs. They're so cute, yet so incredibly useless. I put them on, she kicks them off, I put them on, she kicks them off. Repeat. Socks and slippers it is!
- Baby M has arrived - fiiiiinally! After 4 long days of labour he's here safe and sound. Mom and baby are doing fabulous. I can't wait to meet him and kiss his sweet little face. I grew up with boy cousins and it was awesome so I am so excited that Miss H has M to grow up with, too. Hopefully they will be as close as I am with his daddy and brothers.
- C and I got new phones. iPhones, to be exact, and I'm so excited. Problem is, PR never has phones in stock so they're "on order" and have been all week. I really hope they come tomorrow or I'm going to be grumpy. I want my new phone, now!!!
- H and I are headed to The Island tomorrow with Gramma S. We're going to watch some of my brother's hockey tournament, do a lil shopping, and visit with family friends. Should be a good time. I also hope to drop of a present for Baby M if they break out of the hospital by then!
- We are all sick. All of us. C has had the stomach flu for 4 days now. I have a viral infection in my nose, throat and ears and H.. well she has a stuffed nose and this feeble scratch cry that I can only assume means her throat is sore like mine. She's definitely not herself, either. Poor bebe. I hope we're all good and healthy soon!
- I did it. I ordered a new carseat for H. She screams every time I put her in her's and so I figured we have to buy one eventually, I may as well buy it sooner than later in hopes that it will solve our ever hated car rides. Soon we shall see if she likes it or not... she better.
- If anyone was wondering - Nyana's G-Tube surgery went great. She did amazing and is well on her way to recovery. What a strong little girl she is! Thanks for all your thoughts, prayers and crossed fingers.
- Leave a comment and then pop over to our host, Danifred's. There's lots of leftovers over there, check them out!

{Before I Was A Mom}
10 Things I wish I'd known before I was a mom:
- Enjoy sleep: Naps, early bedtimes, & late mornings all in fresh sheets - free of milk leakage and baby spit-up. Enjoy your bed with just you, or you and your other. It's unbelievable how much room a miniature person can take up - for real, like ALL of it!
- Shower longer: I've never been one for long, drawn out showers. You get in, clean, get out. I always wondered how people could be in there for 25 minutes when I could be in and out in 5 -10 if I shaved my legs. If I could go back.. I would SO have those 25 minute showers. I would stand there and enjoy every second. Currently I'm lucky if I get to shower alone. If I am alone, I can here her screaming...
- Eat while it's hot: I can't count the amount of cold dinners I have eaten in the past 4 months. Enjoy the ability to eat hot food, with both hands free.
- Spend time alone: this becomes pretty much impossible.
- Be spontaneous: It's not easy - or logical - to do things on a whim when you have a baby. I mean, deciding to go to the mall 5 mins before you leave is tough enough, but to decided to leave town on "the next ferry" isn't going to happen. There is far too much organizing and packing and planning.
- Going off of #5.. Pack light: There is no such thing as "packing light", anymore, YOU NEED EVERYTHING!!!
- Stay out late: Babies are creatures of habit/routine. Bedtime is a glorious time, however, missing bedtime makes for a cranky baby and a shitty night. Sometimes I hate that "we have to be home at ___ to put H to bed". Usually I don't mind because once she's in bed, I'm in bed. But occasionally I miss those late nights out.
- Love your body: For real, it could be worse. Have a baby and find out.
- Carry a small purse: Diaper bags are heavy. I've been packing around a giant purse full of shit for years now when I should have been carrying a wallet... though I do have the World's Best Diaper Bag - thanks to my besties!
- Spoil yourself: It will never be about YOU again. Ever. My favourite store is now a kid's clothing store, I spend hours searching eBay for baby things, I get invited places and if I don't bring H I can see the disappointment! I don't mind, and I knew it would be like this, it's just that it's easy to get caught up with all things baby and forget about yourself. It's okay to buy a new shirt, or get your hair done.. it's a nice break and a nice treat. You deserve it!
It's only been 4 months and they've been the best 4 months of my life. I wouldn't trade Miss H for any of those 10 things, ever, but sometimes it's crazy to look back on how different things used to be... It's so unbelievably crazy how someone so tiny can change your life in just a split second.
What do you wish you'd known?

{Prayers, Thoughts, Vibes...}
Prayers, Thoughts, Vibes, Crossed Fingers, whatever it is you do, can you do it?
Baby Nyana just celebrated her 6 month Birthday a couple days ago and today she will receive her first surgery. Though she celebrated her half birthday in the NICU she won't be there much longer because this surgery means that the end (or the beginning, rather) is well within reach.
She will be receiving a G-tube so that her little body can put more energy and focus into healing her lungs and less into worrying about eating. It's one big step towards the finish line.
Nyana has come so far from the tiny 2lb 6oz babygirl that arrived into this world and there is no doubt that she will overcome this surgery like a champ. She's a survivor and a fighter but a little extra support never hurts.

{Friday Night Leftovers}
- H has forgotten how to sleep. My baby who has slept through the night for the past month now wakes 3-5x a night. T mentioned 4 (or in my case, 3) month sleep regression. Seriously, I didn't even know there was such a thing and then I read it.. and I almost cried, and then I puked a little in my mouth. Fuck.
- Speaking of sleep, or lack thereof, I have insomnia. I cannot fall asleep at night. I'm regularly up until 2am and I hate it. When H was sleeping with us it forced me to go to sleep because she was in my arms and woke if I moved. I love having her in her own bed but now I'm free to do whatever and somehow the TV and the computer are far more interesting than my dreams... or at least that's what my brain thinks.
- Yesterday was H's first St. Patrick's Day and she has nothing green.. BAD mommy!!
- Guess what? Robins were in my yard yesterday AND the frogs were croaking in the back yard. You have no idea how much this excites me. Winter is fiiiiinally on it's way out!
- I mentioned last week that I was addicted to eBay, again... well I'm still addicted.. it's not very good for C's credit card!!
- I love Ellen.
- H is so fussy. She's crying constantly and fussing when she's not crying. She's making me crazy!!! It's a good thing she's cute. I just can't wait for warmer weather so we can go to the park and the beach and for nice long walks. I think being cooped up in the house is getting to both of us. As Tasha mentioned, she's "spirited" not "bad"!!
- A few weeks ago I talked about how I was doing the 30day Shred. I assume some may be wondering how that's going? Well, Jillian went on vacation... or I did, either way. I will do it, eventually, but now is not my time.
- I miss my mom.
- My car is the biggest mess EVER. Seriously, it looks like I live in it or something. I NEED the weather to improve so I can improve my lifestyle!!
- Check out more leftovers here!
