{Friday Night Leftovers}

  • It's been over a month since I last did FNL... I haven't had much to write about lately because H has been such a grump. Between the sickness and the teething I really didn't have much good to write about.. you know what your ma'ma always told you, "if you don't have anything nice to say, don't say anything at all". I was trying my best to listen - for once.
  • I got my very first Library Card a few weeks ago. Yah, I'm 24 - sad, right? Anyways, I read 2 books in 2 weeks which is basically unheard of. I enjoyed it and once life settles down I will be going back for more! Tasha recommended this book awhile ago in her 'June Books' post and It was AMAZING. I couldn't put it down. It took me 2 days and I was done reading.
  • H was very ill with the flu. 8 days of puking and pooping.. of laundry, and baths, and showers.. of changing sheets, and outfits.. of doctors appointments, pedialyte, blood work, and tylenol.. 8 days of hell. It was horrible to see her like that. She couldn't keep anything down and would look at you with these sad eyes as vomit dripped out her nose. I'm sooo glad she's better now.
  • We have 6 teeth. Her bottom 2 are in fully, the top 2 are 3/4 of the way and there is 1 on the top and 1 on the bottom that have just broken through. I can see 2 more white bumps on the other sides, as well. Teething is the bain of my existence. I cannot wait until it's over. For.Ever.
  • If anyone has any brilliant ideas, aside from putting a helmet on her, to keep H from hitting her head repeatedly when she falls off over everything she pulls herself up on, that would be awesome. I try my best to catch her but now that she's mobile I can't get anything done without hearing a clunk, followed by a scream, in the other room. Apparently the ground is no longer satisfying that the world is much better on her feet.
  • I started working. Blech. I'm doing a couple nights a week at a local restaurant. It's basically to put a little extra cash in our pockets as I don't receive Mat pay. I'm not quite ready to apply at the hospital for fulltime/part time hours yet so the evenings when C can be at home with H will do for now.
  • Life is busy. Summer has finally arrived. It's my brother-in-laws wedding on Saturday, then family visits throughout the week and then on the 6th is my mom's wedding.
  • I LOVE the heat. I have been complaining and complaining about how summer had forgotten about us and now that it's here, you will not hear a complaint about the heat from me. I will enjoy every moment - even when I'm so hot I could die.
  • For more exciting leftovers visit here.

{8 Months Old}

Likes:
*Swimming in the lake - and the pool.. and the bath
*Anything electronic - also known as anything she's not supposed to have
*Giving kisses
*Crawling - and getting into eeeverything
*Standing/walking - if she's crying you can basically put her on her feet and her hands and she stops instantly. She wants to "walk" everywhere and stand on everything.
*Charlie - she's obsessed with our cat. Charlie crawls just out of distance and meows at H, then she crawls and just before she gets to her, Charlie moved another two feet away. It's their own little game of Cat 'n Mouse.
*Her daddy - and me too, but she is quickly becoming a daddy's girl. I'm okay with it (but only because I don't think anything in the World is cuter than daddies with their babygirls!)

Dislikes:
*Teething - Ugh
*Falling down after pulling herself up - on everything
*Her change table - it used to be her favourite place and now she does everything in her power to get off of it - all while screaming.
*Being sick
*Naps & bedtime - they used to be easy peasy.. I knew it couldn't last forever.
*Avocado - she actually gags and throws up.

Could Take It or Leave It:
*Solids - sometimes she can't get enough, others she doesn't want any. It's very hit an miss. Her favourite thing at the moment is cucumbers.

What Happened This Month?:
*It's been a long month of sickness and teething. She had a flu that lasted 8 days. 8 days of continuous puking and diarrhea. I have never done more laundry, given more baths, or taken more showers in my life!! It was terrible. She couldn't keep anything down and ended up dropping under 18lbs. Thankfully she is now all better.

*She got more teeth - the count is now at 5! I hate teething - like HATE it.

*She learned to crawl. The army crawling started July 2nd and then she up and took off on all fours by July 19th. I think it would have been sooner but in between then was when she had the flu. She's getting really good (and fast!) and gets to where she wants to go with no problems now.

*She started pulling herself up on us about 2 weeks ago but as of July 24th she is pulling herself up on everything else. So far not inside her crib, but I'm sure that's the next to come - we dropped it down already so we won't have any accidents.

*She said "dada" a few times and "mama" once.. but hasn't said either for a couple weeks so I guess they don't count. She still says "hi" and waves when you say hi to her.

*She's still in size 3 diapers

*Last Thursday she weighed in at 18lbs 12oz and 27" long. That's the exact same weight as last month and an inch longer.. perhaps our porker is thinning out? Ha.

*I spent my first night away from her. We were supposed to go to Naniamo with my mom to go wedding dress shopping but she was still puking and I couldn't travel with her. I left.. kicking my feet (and crying). She stayed with daddy and he had a rough night/day with the sicky but did very well. She just loves him to bits so I wasn't worried about her, just sad to go and leave her the way she was.

*She has hair! I put clips/flowers/bows in it all the time.

I feel like the past 8 months has gone by so quickly. I look in her crib while she's sleeping and I see a little girl - where did my baby go!?

Happy 8 Months, H. Your Mumma Loves You xo
