{3 Months Old}

likes: (they're pretty much the same as month 2)
*Baths - forget like, she LOVES them. She gets super excited as soon as she hears the tub running and her arms and legs start going. Once she's in she "swims" like crazy.
*Massages - beside the heater
*Outside - she loves fresh air.
*Laying on her change table - it's her favourite place to be.
*The fan - it runs in her bedroom while she sleeps and she sleeps so good!
*Cuddles
*Rocks in her glider
*Funny faces and voices - she giggles and smiles so much when you talk to her in silly voices.
*Gripe Water

dislikes:
*Sore Tummies - she loses her mind.
*Her carseat - ugh. HATES it, with a passion.

could take it or leave it:
*The singing mirror in the car - sometimes it makes her happy, sometimes she hates it.
*Her swing
*Her bumbo
*Her sucky - she prefers her hands these days
*Bedtime - sometimes she goes down easy, sometimes she screams for 10 minutes.
*Tummy Time - she's getting better at it and screams less and less each time.

What happened this month:
*At her 3 month Doctor's Appointment she weighed in at 12lbs 10oz, and 23.75" long. She's in the 50th percentile for both weight and height, now. The doctor said she's "perfect" but I'm sure they tell everyone that.

*She's still super chubby. Her thigh rolls are out of control and she has little boobies!

*She caught her first cold. We were both sick at the same time and it made for quite the grumpy twosome. She still slept great though, so because of that we both got better quickly!

*She rolled over!! Three times in 1 day  (Feb 22/11)... and then never again. I can't wait until she does it more regularly.

*She laughed - like, for real. We've been getting "cough laughs" since last month but on Feb 23/11 she gave her first real one. Riiiight from the belly. It shocked me and I almost dropped her. She still doesn't do it often but we get about one real laugh a day and then a bunch of cough laughs (they sound kind of like she's coughing or breathing groggy).

*For 1 week exactly, she has been crib trained. We started our bedtime routine Feb 19/11 and it's going great! We have a bath, a massage, storytime while we eat and then put in the crib, awake. Once the fan is on, and the light is off, she usually goes to sleep without any issues. Every once in awhile we have about 10 minutes of screaming but it never lasts long. She's been sleeping from about 9pm-7am, eating, and then sleeping from about 715-1030. It varies a bit but sticks pretty close to this schedule. We're very lucky and hope it keeps up! (This better not jinx us).

*She's IN LOVE with her hands. They're always in her mouth - both of them.

*Her blocked tear duct is gone!

*She smiles SO MUCH. It still melts my heart.

*We went on a week long trip to the city without daddy. She was excellent and slept so good the whole time we were there. We got to meet her new best friend, Makenna, and visit with her Auntee's. It was a long visit but it also included meeting her Uncle Mike which was nice. She loved him and was full of smiles. We were both happy to get home to daddy, though... or maybe I was a little more happy than she was!

*She "talks" lots and tells stories constantly. We love to hear what she has to say!

It's crazy how fast time flies (and I'm sure I'll say that every month) but she becomes so much funner every month. I can't get over how quickly she changes right before my eyes. It's so amazing to watch her grow.

Happy 3 Months, H! Your Mumma loves you xo

{Friday Night Leftovers}

  • We housesat at my Mom's last weekend. I'm loved housesitting when we didn't have a baby but now that we do, I would just much rather be at home. It's hard to stick to routine when you don't have all the things you have at your own home, especially a crib.
  • We've been doing good with Torture Tummy Time this week. We still have moments of hate, but there are also long periods of time with her head held high. Perhaps soon we may actually like to hang out face down?
  • I'm addicted to The Food Network.
  • Hadley rolled over!! I know I already posted about it but I'm just so excited! That was on Tuesday and she refused to do it again. 3 times in a row and nothing since!
  • I got out on a Girl's Night on Tuesday. Me and one of my besties went and seen Country Strong. It was pretty good but it was really just nice to get out of the house. Apparently Miss H was NOT nice to daddy while I was gone though... little ma'ma's girl.
  • We've been crib training all week. We started a routine at bedtime and so far it's going great. She's been sleeping about 8-9 hours in her first stretch, waking for a feed, and then getting another 3-4 hours. This makes for a happy baby and an even happier mom and dad - We have our bed back!!
  • I've been making H a mobile for her crib. It's made of butterflies and I've been working on it about 45 mins a day for the past 5 days. I am thinking about perhaps making them to sell and so when I'm done I'll post pictures. I'm pretty sure after this one (which has been complete trial and error) I'll be able to have them done completely within 2-3 hours. So far I'm totally excited about it and it's looking awesome, I can't wait until it's finished so I can show it off! (and she BETTER love it).
  • Do you ever feel like you clean and clean and yet, nothing ever gets done? I swear to god I organize H's bedroom (and even our's) at least once every 3 days and yet I look around and there is shit everywhere. I know I only have myself, and perhaps C, to blame because H is obviously not big enough to make, or clean up, a mess but C'MON! I need a maid.
  • The Shred is not going so well. I hurt my ankle and it was pretty swollen and bruised, then when it started feeling better.. well, I started to not feel so good. This cold can take a bloody hike. I guess I'll try again soon... better luck next time... if at first you don't succeed... .
  • I have been to Walmart every day this week. FML.
  • H is 13 weeks old today... she will be 3 months tomorrow so I'll update her stats then.
  • H and I are both sick. We have been for a few days and it's tough. I am the world's worst sick person. My mom, my husband, anyone who knows me, will tell you that I am horrible. Whiney, sad, sleepy, I complain constantly... it's bad. Looking after a sick baby when all you want to do is climb into a hole and die is not easy. To make it even better, sick H loves me more than un-sick H does.. therefore, no break for me, at all. Sometimes this parenting stuff is tough!
  • Winter can piss off.
  • Yesterday I got a real live Giggle. Not the half cough have growly laughs I've been getting for a few weeks now, this one was right from the belly. It caught me so off guard I nearly dropped her and then I cried. Of course, like the rolling, she refused to do it again - but I'm chocking that up to being sick and grumpy.
  • Visit Danifred and check out her leftovers, here

{Look Out, Linus!}

I think it's safe to say, we have a Blankey Baby on our hands. So far it doesn't seem to matter what blankey it is, but I'm sure as she grows she will develop a favorite. Look out, Linus!

{Ch-ch-check Me Out}

Hey, check out what my totally awesome baby can do...

Ta-da!

Today H rolled over from front to back for the very first time. I seen it happening and yelled for C to come, he was taking his time and I yelled "RUNNNN" he got here just in time to watch her flip onto her back. So happy we both got to witness it.

I thought perhaps it was a one-time-flukey-thing so I put her back on her tummy, and she did it again! Then, of course, I grabbed the camera and we lucked out with a 3rd. I can't believe how big she's getting - right before my very eyes!

{Tummy Time Tutorial}

A Torture Tummy Time Tutorial - by H

Step 1: Show mom that you know how to do it. Prove you're not a weak little baby and you reeeeally don't need to do this daily.

Step 2: Slowly get upset so it doesn't look like you're faking. (If you instantly start squealing mom will know something is up.)

Step 3: Scream bloody murder. Make it count, it has to sound like you are going to die if someone does not end the madness that is Tummy Time!! (Never, and I repeat, NEVER, put your head down. If you give up, they will think you need more practice!)

Step 4: Wait until mom flips you over on your back. Smile your very biggest smile, instantly, so she knows she saved your life.

Step 5: Continue smiling and giggling. Kick your feet and wave your arms in excitement. The longer you can keep it up, the better, because it will make your mom feel like a hero for stopping your tears.

Honestly, it works every time... try it!

{The Littlest Cowgirl}

I grew up on a bit of  a farm. Not the kind of farm where you have cows and pigs and goats and stuff, but we had horses, and chickens. I'm pretty sure most little girls want a pony at some point in their life. I was lucky, I got my first horse for Christmas when I was 11.

I don't have a horse anymore, but my mom does. She's away in Vancouver this weekend and so C and I are housesitting... or more so, animal sitting. This means, up in the morning to feed the horse and let the chickens out, home at dinner to feed the horse and lock the chickens in. At times I miss having a horse - until I remember how cold and dark it is at 7 am in the Winter.

My mom has already said how she is going to get another horse so her and Miss H can go riding. She wants to take her already and talks about how excited she is for when H is big enough but I think it will be quite awhile before I feel comfortable enough to put her on a horse - with someone, or alone. I won't be letting her go until she is big enough to wear a helmet, that I can promise.

Today, H met Casey.

{Friday Night Leftovers}

  • H is 12 weeks old, today. 12 weeks - Seriously? If I continue blinking she'll be starting Kindergarden!
  • I started Jillian Michael's: 30 Day Shred on Wednesday. It makes me want to kill myself but I am determined not to give up. If I finish it in 30 days, with no cheating/skips, I'm rewarding myself with a little Victoria's Secret shopping spree of bathing suits! 27 days to go... fml.
  • I packed up my first box of H's stuff that doesn't fit and passed it along to a friend who's due in a couple weeks. I didn't think I would have such an attachment to tiny little pink sleepers but my goodness was it hard to say goodbye! I kept certain things because we do plan on having another one day (not soon) and if it happens to be a girl I would be sad if I gave everything away.
  • At the end of May the eldest of my little sisters is Graduating. I am SO excited. I can't wait to head up to the sunny Okanagan and see everyone, and especially to see her Grad. She really makes me feel old!
  • Tummy Time is STILL on H's "hate" list. It's like torture or something. It kills me to watch her fight it so I often walk away and go do dishes, or put on makeup. Anything to pass 5 or 10 minutes. If I sit and watch her, or talk to her, I end up picking her up right away because she's screaming and I feel bad. I know it's good for her, and necessary to do, but WHEN will she stop hating it!!??!?!
  • H has 10 pairs of shoes and 7 pairs of boots... She hasn't worn a single pair. I really should start putting them on her but it just seems like so much more work than it's worth. They can't really be comfy for her, can they?
  • I love Skype.
  • A friend of mine is pregnant, again. She hasn't told anyone yet because it's still early but I AM SO EXCITED I COULD BURST. :)
  • Crib Training is going okay. She will sleep most nights in her crib but she won't go down until 11ish. I guess once we get her used to it fully, the next chore will be making bedtime a wee bit earlier. Mom and Dad need some alone time, too, H.
  • C has my car today. He just texted me and said "Lol, your centre console is awesome.. 5 tampons, 2 straws, an iPod, and a soother." ... That is a rather random centre console.
  • I kind of want cloth diapers...
  • Contrary to what yesterday's post may have you believe - I despise snow. Bringing H out in it just seemed like the right thing to do. Regardless, it sure is beautiful.
  • Those are my leftovers for the week. Throw yours out here!

{Let it Snow}

I remember a few times when I was young being woken up by my parents late at night. They'd tell me to look out the window and it would be snow covered. We'd then get all bundled up and go out to play. Snow in PR doesn't last long. It's usually here one night, gone the next morning so you must take advantage when you can or you will miss out completely.

Last night it started snowing at about 5. It stopped for a bit with just a slight coverage on the ground but then picked back up around 8. At 1030 I looked out the window and everything was covered. It was still snowing huge flakes and I decided it was time to take H out in it. If she had of been sleeping I never would have woke her but she was awake, and so after a bit of begging I finally convinced C that it would be fun. We bundled up and out we went!! Such a beautiful night for a snowy little family walk.

Once we got back inside, and dried of the Princess's face, she was so tuckered out that she fell asleep and didn't wake up until 8 this morning! Got to love fresh air!

{Goodbye Tummy, Hello Bikini}

It's not much of a secret that pregnancy isn't very nice to your body. Sure, having that nice perfectly round, smooth belly is cute as heck, but when the baby comes out and that belly is hollow.. eep! I've been pretty lucky. I fit into my jeans before I left the hospital and I'm below pre-prego weight without any exercise. The issue isn't the weight, it's the jiggle. It's time to start shredding. Jillian Michaels is about to become my new best friend for the next 30 days and I'm NOT looking forward to it. Her and I came in contact back before I was pregnant and our friendship lasted all of 4 days before I threw her in the garbage. This time, I mean business! I WILL get my tummy ready for summer & the dreaded bikini season.

I'm going to take my weight and measurements tonight and this will be Day 1. I'm really hoping I can stick to it consistantly for the next 30 days and tone up - wish me luck!

Also, if you don't hear from me with a progress report within the next 3 days.. I may have died.
Exercise is the Devil.
